Come Back to God - Daily Devotional for Women

Day 2: Repentance Without Shame
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9

Devotional

Repentance is not self punishment. Repentance is returning to God with honesty. Shame says, “Hide.” God says, “Come into the light so I can heal you.” Lent is not meant to crush you. It is meant to cleanse you.

Many women carry quiet guilt. You may feel like you have failed spiritually. You may feel angry, numb, distracted, or inconsistent. But confession is not a performance review. It is a safe place to tell the truth.

This verse promises two things. God forgives, and God cleanses. Forgiveness removes the weight of sin. Cleansing restores your heart and helps you walk forward with a clean conscience. Repentance is not only turning from sin. It is turning toward love.

Today, keep it simple. Confess what is real. Then receive what is promised. You are forgiven. You are being cleansed. You are still loved.

Prayer

Lord, I confess what I have been carrying. I confess my sin, my distractions, and my drifting.

Thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me.

Break shame off my heart. Restore me with Your mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day 3: Come Back to Your First Love
“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”
Revelation 2:4

Devotional

Sometimes we do not lose faith, but we lose warmth. We still believe, but we feel emotionally distant. We still serve, but it feels empty. Jesus names this with tenderness. “Thou hast left thy first love.” He is not trying to condemn you. He is calling you back to relationship.

For busy women, love can cool because life is demanding. You may be caring for everyone else and forget your own soul. You may be faithful in responsibilities but disconnected in intimacy. Lent is a season to return to love again, not just to habits.

Ask yourself gently today. What has replaced closeness with God. Is it constant noise. Is it stress. Is it disappointment. Is it resentment. Is it exhaustion. God is not asking you to feel a sudden emotional spark. He is inviting you to take one small step back toward love.

Coming back to first love might look like worship in the kitchen, a prayer walk, or reading one Gospel story slowly. The goal is not intensity. The goal is intimacy.

Prayer

Jesus, I do not want to live with a distant heart.

If I have left my first love, lead me back gently.

Restore my affection for You. Help me love You again with a sincere and steady heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
